The film genre I have chosen to do for my media film opening is horror. This is because horror is one of my faveroite film genre's. Also it has a lot of elements in that can bring out creativity as there is so many things I can include for example sound, credits and colours. Horror also has plenty of film opening examples that I can evaluate and be inspired by for ideas.
.
This horror film opening is the beginning of the film "The Ring" in this opening it is differet to normal openings this is because it doesnt include a title of the film, film credits or music. However the silence and intense conversation that the two girls are having make the film just as powerful. It also sets a scarey mood to it which slowly reveals questions that the audience want to know answers to. One being if this tape is real?. In my film opening I will be including credits and music. But this opening gives me ideas on how to gradually set the story line without revealing what happens. Lastly this opening does use sound effects that are sharp noises for when for example the phone rings this is to make the phone ringing more intense and frightening for the audience.
This film opening is from the begining of the film "Saw" this film opening includes credits which appear straight away. The font that they are in relate to the genre of horror and is something I am going to use. There is also creepy and intense music in the background which builds up and up this is to set the haunting mood to prepare the audience. The pictures that are being displayed are items of weapons this indicates that this film will invovle these which promotes danger. The added blood is appropiate to the genre and is a popular element to have in horror films. At the end of the film opening there is a fuzzy T.V which then shows the title of the film which is "Saw" this is better than just using a title as it includes added sound affects of the broken cables of the t.v which builds the tension even more. This opening sequence includes all the elements I will use in mine other than I will use acting aswell.
