  • Creepy children
  • Killer has a history
  • Female used as a sexual figure
  • Main character is a female
  • Blood
  • Gore

  • Creepy/ non diegetic music
  • Outdoors
  • Isolated area
  • A survivor
  • Teenagers as victims
  • Creepy sound effects (creaking doors, slamming, foot steps)
  • Unrealistic creatures
  • Urban environments
  • Follows Todorovs theory
  • Flash forwards
  • Dark lighting
  • Dark coloured clothing
  • Weapons (knives,chain saw) implied
  • Suspense
  • Screaming
  • Good v Evil
  • Night time
The ones we will use are highlighted these will be:

The age restrictions for our film will be: the classification of 15. We came to this decision by putting the rest of our film in mind, after all the opening is just the beginning. This will be due to the swearing, discrimination and violence. The discrimination and violence will be used strongly and the swearing frequently to fit the criteria of 15.

Film institutions within horror:
  • Universal studios
  • Dream Works
  • Warner brothers
  • Paramount
  • Sony pictures
  • New Line
  • Miramax
  • 20th Century fox
  • Lions gate

We are going to use is 'New Line Cinema'. We have chosen this because it is known to be a horror company and distributing sub genre slasher.

Since our last meeting we have decided not to shoot our film in the forest because its to common and we want to be original. Also that we want use hand held video filming by one of the characters as this doesn't fit well with our criteria and will not show case our filming skills.

Importance of genre/ classification

In our first production meeting we discussed our ideas that we initially had on our own involving the settings, characters and key elements in the opening. Together we agreed that we will have the opening film set in a forest. There will be a home video in the opening and we will include a flash forward. We have also discussed the characters that we are going to ask to be part of the cast as well. Lastly we discussed each planning task and researched the ones we didn't know.
