Preliminary Plan

Evaluation

In this evaluation I am going to be stating the improvements that are needed in my clip to make this clip to a standard that could be compared to real video clips that are published. The changes that I need to make are going to be made to make my clip the best that it can be. This plan will hugely help me when shooting my real preliminary task as then I can learn from my mistakes and achieve a new clip which will hi-light the improvements and difference of quality between both of the clips.

  • The improvements I need to make for when I do my real preliminary task are that I need to make it clearer what direction Amber is walking in. This is because I start of with a medium long shot with her facing the camera (0.05). Then i change the camera angle to a shot of Amber behind (0.08). This creates the clip to be very confusing as it looks like she is walking away from the door then towards the door. To improve this I need to make the direction of Amber walking much clearer by choosing different camera shots to show this.

  • Another improvement I need to make is the travelling when Amber is walking to meet Nathan at the table. These shots were very mixed up. This is because after Amber had walked through the door then I went straight to a shot from Amber behind which was a extreme medium shot (0.28)  and then I jumped to her almost at the table which was a medium long shot (0.32) I didn't make it clear to my viewers where Amber was travelling to therefore when i shoot this again I will make sure the table is in the shot. Also I will keep to the right side of Amber and this will make it easier for the viewers to understand that Amber is walking in one direction to the table.

  • Also when Amber finally gets to the table I used a medium shot (0.37) to show her pulling out the chair. The frame work of this shot was correct. However Nathan wasn't sitting on the chair opposite this would confuse the viewers therefore when I film this clip I will make sure that Nathan is sitting opposite ready to have the conversation shoot with Amber.

  • When the conversation shots takes place in all three shot reverse shot camera shots (0.49) (0.52) (0.56) whether its Nathan or Amber I have taken the frozen camera shot where there head is to big and takes up to much space therefore leaving hardly any space for the viewer to see Nathan or Amber's expressions. Therefore when I film this again I will make sure that the closer image is of the person who is facing the camera and the other person who has there head directing opposite the camera much smaller and taking up less space.

  • Lastly I will change the bright orange background to a more suttle colour this will be improved to make the clip look more realistic and take the attention of off the start and ending and more on what is happening and the action of the clip.
